There are many different paths to follow to manifest your dreams. For hundreds of years people have given advice on what it takes to stay focused on your dreams to reach them. There have been many speakers and authors that have shared their philosophies; like Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnage, Earl Nightingale to just name a few. One of my favorite quotes is from Napoleon Hill: “Cherish your visions and your dreams as they are the children of your soul, the blueprints of your ultimate achievements“. What this means to me is that the dreams we all hold within ourselves are something we must nurture. We must allow them to be what the are. Just like raising children, we need to focus on them, give them unconditional love, allow them to grow, and give them guidance. We should treat our dreams and the process of achieving them no differently. Focus, guide, love and never give up on them if it’s something you truly want.
In this post I would like to talk about focus. What you focus on grows, what you think about expands, and what you dwell on determines your destiny. This is a very profound statement and holds so much truth in it. Focus is a key element to keeping your dreams in your mind. One way to accelerate this vision within ones self, is to create a Vision Board. A Vision Board displays your dreams and goals visually in the physical world. It allows your mind to see your dreams in shapes and colors and makes them more real then thoughts. The process of creating a Vision Board can be a lot of fun. I like to create mine at the beginning of the new year but honestly it doesn’t matter what time of the year it is. Create one when you need it. Here is the process I use to create my Vision Boards.
How To Create a Vision Board
Supplies You Will Need
- Poster Board
- Glue Stick
- Tea or Sprints and Your Favorite CD
Purchase quality poster board from a local craft or arts store. I like creating poster size Vision Boards. It gives me more room to add my dreams but it also is more powerful when it’s hung up on the wall. Hard to miss!
Buy some of your favorite non gossip magazines that have images or articles about the things you would like to create in your life. I always buy magazines on health, yoga, bodybuilding, business, home improvement etc… The internet is also a great place to find imagery inspiration.
Creating Your Board
I highly recommend you setting a few hours aside where you can focus without interruption. This time is for you, so do it when you have no distractions from your day to day. Put your favorite CD on brew some tea or have some spirits to help relax and put you in a good mood.
Go through each magazine and cut out images and words that give you inspiration and also shows off the goals you have.
This is where you get creative. Go through all of the cut outs and find the one’s that are right for you and start gluing them on the poster board. Place them in random spots or order them by goal. Just have fun with it.
